(3) There was once a tree.It was the biggest tree in the forest.However,it would never share its shade with any of the animals. And it wouldn ’ t let them come anywhere near. One year,the winter was terrible . And the tree,without its leaves,was going to die of cold.A little girl,who lived by the forest,found that,so she got a big scarf( 围巾 ) to warm the tree up.Then the Spirit( 精灵 )of the Forest appeared.She told the little girl why that tree was so lonely and why no one would help it.Even so,the girl decided to put the scarf on the tree. The next spring,the tree learned from the girl ’ s kindness.When the girl sat next to it,it bent down to shade her from the sun.The spirit of the Forest saw this.She went to tell all the animals.She said, “ From mow on,you would be able to shade yourselves well,because the tree has learned a lesson.If there are more kind and generous( 慷慨的 ) humans around,the world will be a much better place to live in ”
