Directions: Read carefully and try to tell whether the statements you read are true or false The most important organic constituents of detergents, cleaners and cleaning cosmetics are surfactants of the anionic, nonionic and cationic type. Important anionic surfactants are soaps, which are still employed in detergents. And linear alkylbenzene sulfonates (LAS), which among the synthetic anionic surfactants are by far the largest volume item. Linear alkylbenzene sulfonates represent approximately two thirds of total anionic surfactant, if one excludes soap from consideration. Detergents and cleaning agents also contain important, large volume inorganic components like sodium perborate, sodium triphosphate and zeolite A. These three components constitute such a large volume of raw materials that they must also be evaluated from an environmental point of view; while other minor inorganic constituents such as sodium sulfate, water glass and magnesium silicate do not need to be discussed any further.
