The study of the biochemical and physiological effects of drugs and their mechanisms of action are termed as pharmacodynamics. It is unique mainly in that attention which is focused on the characteristics of drugs. As a border science, pharmacodynamics borrows freely from both the theories and the experimental techniques of physiology, biochemistry, immunology, and pathology.
