explorers Leonardo da Vinci was born in the small town of Vinci near Florence on the 15th of April 1452. He was the illegitimate son of a peasant girl and a local lawyer. He lived with his father’s family and had a comfortable childhood. As a young boy, Leonardo was said to have developed a (1) _______ love of nature. Leonardo’s upbringing was very traditional, but the world around him was changing rapidly.
