Some recent studies show that sports can not only help girls improve their health but also help them do better at school and in their daily life. Nacy Smith, 14, joined the football team when she was in Grade 8. “It was fun because i met a lot of good friends there and many of the friendships were formed. What’s more, i felt much healthier than before.” says Nacy. Besides fun and good health, studies also show that the girls who play sports are more likely to get a college degree. And it can also help improve their self-confidence. “It does give them another way to look at themselves,” says Nacy’s head teacher. Nacy’s parents have already seen the difference in their daughter. She is trying to help her team get success. i think that’s very important because life is not just about yourself. “you need to be part of a society or a team and do your best,” says Nacy’s mother. “i’m so proud to see her trying her best,” adds Nacy’s father. “It’s great that i can do any sport. My parents support me all the time. i have the confidence to do well in it,” says Nacy. Nacy felt much healthier and ______ than before when she joined the football team.
