Jimmy has been a postman for the last ten years. He loves to talk to his wife in the evenings about the people he delivers to. He told her about Mrs Manne, the little old lady at number 24, who had always been very unfriendly when he delivered her post. She has a son in Australia and a daughter in France so she often gets post. But one day when Jimmy rang the bell with a parcel for Mrs Manners from her daughter, there was no answer. Jimmy knew that the old lady never went out ( she even gets her food delivered from the loal supermarket), so he started to feel worried. He looked through the letterbox but saw nothing, and then he looked through the living room window and saw Mrs Manners lying on the floor. He went around the house to check if the back door was open. It was, so he ran in and immediately rang for an ambulance. Mrs Manners got to the hospital in time. The doctor said that she had had a heart attack and if she had come to hospital any later she would not have survived. From that day on, Mrs Manners has been very friendly and always gives Jimmy a bar of chocolate when he deliveres a parcel to her.
