NEW YORK—The people at UNICEF's(联合国国际儿童教育基金会的) Operation Center have been working around the clock to arrange the relief efforts from various countries for survivors of the Indian Ocean tsunami(海啸). Operating 24 hours, 7 days a week, the center is an essential communication core between the UNICEF head office, the UNICEF supply warehouse(仓库) in Copenhagen and over 158 country offices. The center was formally established in 1996 as part of the Office of Emergency(紧急情况) Programs. It can provide telephone service and video-meetings for UNICEF officials working around the globe. Each employee in the center speaks more than 2 languages, and they speak a total of 12 languages. The center checks over emergency situations, as well as many ongoing crises. It provides UNICEF policy makers with detailed analysis, and at the same time keep its own employees in dangerous situations aware of their own safety. Supporting UNICEF to provide effective action is the highest goal of the center—not only during crisis, but all of the time, for all of the children. This passage is from a piece of ______.
