2018-19 秋 Week 4 Assignment 4.mp4 2018-19 秋 Week 4 Assignment 4.mp3: For a time today, it looked like the No. 2 official at the Justice Department was dead man walking. But rumors that Rob Rosenstein would either be fired or quit proved to be premature, at least for now. Chief intelligence correspondent Catherine Herridge has been riding a roller coaster of this story all day 1______________________________ tonight. Good evening, Catherine. Well, thank you, Bret, good evening. A source close to Rod Rosenstein tells Fox News that he expected to be fired earlier today when he went to the White House, met with Chief of Staff John Kelly and spoke on the phone with President Trump. 2______________________________ until Thursday when he's scheduled to meet in person with the president. Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein left the White House after a previously-scheduled national security meeting 3______________________________ that he may be out of a job. According to a source, Rosenstein met with White House Chief of Staff John Kelly on Friday after the New York Times first reported that Rosenstein discussed recording the president 4______________________________ to remove the president after he fired FBI Director James Comey in May 2017. Allegations Rosenstein vigorously denied. At the U.N., members of the Cabinet said the 25th Amendment was not raised with them. I have never once been in the White House where that conversation has happened. I'm not aware of 5______________________________ talking about that. It is completely and totally absurd. In a statement, the White House press secretary confirmed Rosenstein 6______________________________ with the president over the weekend. Because the president is at the United Nations General Assembly and has a full schedule with leaders from around the world, they will meet on Thursday when the president returns to Washington, D.C. Democrats are urging Rosenstein to hold on. This looks to me like a slow-moving Saturday Night Massacre. It seems like the only question is whether these steps take place now or they take place after the midterms. House Republicans want the memos drafted by former FBI director Andrew McCabe 7______________________________ and they want to hold the public hearings. We need Rod Rosenstein under oath before the Judiciary Committee. Articles of impeachment have been filed against Rosenstein. Under House rule, 8______________________________ where any one member of Congress can force a vote on Rod Rosenstein's impeachment. A source familiar with White House weekend discussions told Fox they focused on whether Rosenstein was "compromised" based on 9______________________________ multiple conflicts of interest, including his role in the firing of Comey, his role signing a surveillance warrant for Trump campaign aide Carter Page and Rosenstein's decision to hire Special Counsel Robert Mueller shortly after Mueller interviewed with the president to be FBI director. In a statement today, 10______________________________, who left the bureau after the inspector general found he lied to federal investigators, denied any role in the leaks about Rosenstein. Whatever happens, McCabe said the most important thing is maintaining the integrity of the special counsel's case. Bret? More on this with the panel. Catherine, thanks.
