How Young Is Too Young? I don‘’t agree with laws concerning ages of drinking alcohol, driving, gambling, and marriage in the United States. These laws about young Peoples freedom don’t make sense and are too inconsistent-they really vary from place to place. I think many should be changed. In 1984 the United States government passed a law that set the legal age for drinking alcohol at 21. I don’t agree with this. I consider a person to be an adult at 18. I think 18 should be the legal drinking age. The legal voting age used to be 21, but now it is 18, I hope it will gradually move even lower. Young people shouldn’t be prohibited from choosing their leaders. I think anyone who wants to vote should be allowed to. The legal ages for driving and gambling don’t make sense, because they are different from place to place. In many states the driving age is 16, in others 15, while in Hawaii it is 18. The gambling age is 21 in Colorado, 18 in New York, and 16 in Maine. I can’t understand the reason for these variations. The legal age of marriage is 18, except for Nebraska where it Is 19 and Mississippi where it is 21. In Iran, the age for men is 15 and women 13, while in Senegal it is 20 for men and 16 for women. I don't understand why it is necessary to set an age at all. Finally, I think young people should work together to address this situation. Write to your leaders in the government and let them know how you feel!
