Passage 1 At the commencement of passenger boarding, cabin crew station themselves in the compartments to which they are assigned. In principle, each crewmember is stationed in the compartment where he or she has been assigned to greet passengers as they board. However, the Chief Purser may assign some crew members to other locations such as the terminal end of the boarding bridge. While offering help to the elderly or those with children, the crew should do their best to ensure that the boarding process goes as quickly and smoothly as possible. The greetings by cabin attendants may be "Good morning/afternoon, welcome aboard!" and "This way please." Most passengers require little assistance at this time, but crew should positively approach those passengers who appear likely to require extra assistance or other special passengers who should be guided to their seats. These passengers include the elderly, the handicapped, those with babies or children as well as First Class passengers. Cabin attendants may ask questions as "May I help you with your bag?" and so on. For other passengers, direct them to the correct aisle and advise them in which direction to proceed as seems necessary. The crew must look at boarding passes so that the information that passengers give can be made accurate. Questions like "What's your seat number?" and "Your boarding pass, please." are useful in this occasion. Apart from the mentioned part of greeting the passengers, the cabin crew will give the welcome announcement and perform safety demonstrations. The welcome announcement is made by Purser just before take off.
