A relationship begins the moment the customers come to our stand and meet us. The way we look, walk, act and talk are important factors as to how people relate to us. How we talk and behave will show whether we really care about the customers’ views and feelings. That will leave a deep impression on our customers, which may decide whether we can do business with them successfully or not. No matter who we are, salespeople, receptionists or managers, that we know some basic and important things to improve our opportunity to succeed is necessary. To start with, we should always wear a smile on our face or look pleasant. A friendly smile is an important way to help potential customers relax. It can affect customers and makes our stand warm and inviting. Some people think that it is convenient to serve our customers when we stand in the center of the stand. However, that’s not true. Stand off to the side, near the front corner of the exhibit. To create a more inviting appearance, don’t directly face the aisle and stare at attendees. Moreover, focus your attention on our customers and what they talk about. We should try our best to be interested and listen carefully. People tend to like people who like them. Treat others as you would like to be treated. As we know, clothes make the man or woman. So please iron your clothes, cut your hair and act like a professional. Our posture is an expression of our confidence and personality. So we should stand up and make our customers feel that we’re confident and energetic. Don’t be slouchy. Finally, please allow plenty of open space for our customers to browse. We should stand at least 3 feet from the displays or equipment. Be an observer but not a guard. Allow prospects to approach the displays without your interference. Too small a space may make customers feel uncomfortable and even claustrophobic.
