In nearly every country, the most popular hobby is stamp collecting. There are probably only a few boys and girls who have not collected stamps at some time. Most children do not collect stamps seriously, but there are some who spend much time on their collections as well as their money. A good stamp collection can be very valuable. Most collections , however, are not worth much money. They are collections of ordinary stamps that everybody has. There are so many different countries in the world that it is not possible for many people to collect stamps from every country. Most collectors, therefore, collect particular kinds of stamps, for example, stamps with pictures of animals on them. Another popular hobby is collecting coins, either modern coins or old coins of one’s own country.A coin collection will always be of some value, even if the coins are very ordinary. Most people like to collect something. The list of possible things to collect is endless. There are collections of wild flowers,match-box tops, bird’s eggs, picture postcards, etc. It is not only the children who like to collect things. Many adults also collect things, especially books and records. Some wealthy people collect antiques, very old pieces of furniture,glass,and silverware. Others collect pictures that have been painted by famous artists. It is difficult to think of anything that someone is not collecting.
