完形填空。 The public schools I attended from 6th grade to 12th grade had amazing education programs for children with various handicaps (残疾)．They participated in the same programs along with us in classes __ 1 __ gym,biology,history,and I never heard anyone with a(n) __ 2 __ get teased or made fun of． I was close __ 3 __ with a darling girl named Vanessa who had Down syndrome (唐氏综合症) ．I was __ 4 __ to see Jeff,another boy with Down syndrome working at a local store a few years after we__ 5 __． Three years after I graduated from Murray High School,my __ 6 __ was a senior student and was chosen as a finalist for Homecoming Queen．Among the 10 __ 7 __ were two girls with disabilities． Shellie had Down syndrome,and April suffered from mental disabilities due to a __ 8 __  trouble she had in her childhood．Since __ 9 __ education students usually stayed for a few extra years,I too knew Shellie when I __ 10 __ Murray High． The finalists went to the gym floor together with their __ 11 __ or friends．When Shellie and April __ 12 __ out,the crowd rose to their feet,__ 13 __and clapping． Shellie's parents tried to prepare her for the possibility of not __ 14 __,but it was unnecessary． Murray High School __ 15 __a lovely girl with Down syndrome their 1997 Homecoming Queen that night．And you know what?
