Confessions of an Internet Addict 1 My addiction to the Internet is causing several problems in my life. 2 The first issue is my expanding waistline. 3 I used to enjoy exercising and playing tennis four days a week, but now my need to catch up on Twitter and read the latest sports blogs has stopped me from exercising. 4 In the last six months, I have followed every major sports story, but I have also gained thirty pounds. 5 The second issue is my online shopping. 6 I no longer have to leave the house to buy groceries, clothes, or cleaning supplies. 7 With the quick touch of a button, I can have my items ordered, and within days, delivered. 8 The worst issue, however, is my dying social life. 9 Whenever a friend texts to meet up, I usually ignore the text or respond that I am busy. 10 Fewer and fewer friends are texting anymore, so even if I wanted to go out, I don’t have anyone to meet. 11 Although the Internet benefits most people, it has had a different impact on my life.
