I haven’t seen Dad for over two years, and what I can’t forget most (be)the sight of him from the back as he was walking away. It (be)a double-whammy for our family in the winter of that year. Grandma (pass) away and Dad (lose) his job. After the funeral, I must go back and dad (decide) to see me off. He ______ (take)me to the train and (pick) a seat close to the door for me. He (spread) the purple fur coat which he (give) me on the seat and (caution) me to be careful on the way. I (say), “Dad, you should go.” But he said, “Let me go and (buy) a few tangerines.”I (watch) him staggering to the side of the railroad track in a little black hat, a black robe, and a deep-turquoise jacket. He (cling) onto the edge, (raise) his legs, and titled slightly to the left as he (try) to lift his overweight figure with great effort. I watched him from the back side at that moment, my tears (begin) to stream down my cheeks. When I looked outside again, he had already walked back with those reddish tangerines in his clasp. To cross the tracks, he scattered the tangerines on the ground of the platform, (climb) down to the tracks slowly and (hold) onto the fruits as he walked. He (walk) up to the train cabin with me and dumped those tangerines on my leather coat. He (dust) his coat in seemingly good spirits, and said after a little while: “I’m leaving. Don’t (forget) to write.” I (wait) until he disappeared among the bustling crowd. When I (sit) down, my tears began to well again. However not seeing me for a couple of years, he finally has forgotten my failings, missing me and my son all the time.He ( write) to me once and it (read), “I’m well, but I have difficulties writing and using chopsticks. I’m afraid my time is near.” At this juncture, I (seem) to see through my tear-filled eyes his plump rear-figure clad in turquoise jacket and black robe fading away. Oh my, when can I see him again!
