Most people know the gruesome story of Baron Frankenstein, the mad doctor who created a living monster from the bodies of corpses. The story has been told and retold.It has also been the subject of numerous films,and most people are familiar with the tale.What many people don't know, however, is that the chilling story of Dr.Frankenstein and his creature was written by a nineteen-year-old girl named Mary Shelly. As a young bride, Shelly liked to take part in storytelling competition with her husband, Percy Shelley, and his friend and fellow-poet George Gordon Byron. On one particularly long evening, Byron suggested that everyone write and read a ghost story. Mary Shelley responded with the story of Frankenstein, and the rest, as they say, is history.
