12 beautiful old trees in the main street were cut down this week. These trees were about 100 years old. People could h_1__believe that anyone would cut them down. The trees were cut down because the road was widened to allow more cars too d__2__along it. Locals have been protesting(抗议)for months. It is believed that these beautiful old trees are more i__3__than the road. Our city needs these trees.Trees can absorb a lot of carbon dioxide from the air and make the air cleaner. If you work next to a tree on a hot summer day, the tree and the area around it can make people feel c__4__which is also good for people. Trees can make us feel healthy and happy. Our point is not just about the trees. We also believe that we should not s__5__our money expanding the road. We should improve public t__6__. There are not enough buses along the main street. When people commute to work(上下班),you can see that there is only 1 person in many private cars. Why can't we have more buses? If we have more buses, f__7__ people need to travel to and from work by car. When these trees were cut down, there would be more to be cut down. It's not wise to do so.
