Busy work schedules are creating a generation of “ Maybe Later” children. Thought those children are the most important to their parents, they are too busy with their work to spare time for them. [2] In a study, working parents spend less than an hour a day with their children. Almost eight out of ten children said they hated being parked in front of the television instead of being entertained and 60 percent said they wished their parents worked less and had more time to play with them. [3] The generation of “ Maybe Later” kids shows a worrying trend of parents not spending as much time as they should with their children. Parents admit their children aren’t getting enough of their attention, and children are also feeling the effect of this, longing fro their parents to spend more time with them. [4] “We live in ever busier times with many parents taking work home with them, but it seems this is having a negative effect on the relationship they have with their children,” Dr James Carnd said, “ Trying to balance work an home life can be difficult, but parents need to remember that playing with your kids is a great way to relieve stress.” [5] The research also found that on top of a normal working week, tired parents check their emails as soon as they get home at least four nights a week. And at least one of the two parents misses dinner twice a week because they work late. When they’re at home, they spend much of their spare time cooking and cleaning______ playing with their children .And more than half parents often find themselves promising to play with their children after they’ve finished work, checked their emails or completed housework. 小题1:What children are called “ Maybe Later” children ?
