We played against a team from a country school. They didn't come until the game began. They looked bad . They wore dirty( 脏的) blue pants and looked like fa rm boys .W e thought that they had never seen a basketball before . We all sat down. We felt that we didn't need any practice against a team like tha t. It was so late that no time could be given to them for a wa rm( 热身 ) The game began. One of our boys got the ball and he shot(15%) a long pass to our forward( 前锋 ).A boy in a dirty T-shirt stopped the pass and then he shot the ball into the basket and got a two-point shot.They surprised( 使 ...... 吃惊 )us. Then they got another two-point shot in a minute. Soon it was all over. The country team beat us . We certainly learned that the team was good, but there was usually another one just a little better.But the important lesson we learned was: One can't tell a man, or a team, by the clothes.
